No matter what they are about, reading books to your child can help them strengthen their mind. This development has many benefits for children ages 6-8. It can strengthen their communication skills, give them a fun way to explore the world around them, and prepare them for school.

There are many children’s books focused on mathematical concepts. You can find books about computation like adding and subtracting, shapes, patterns, and others.

Another type of book that can be fun for children are search and find or I Spy books. These can be hard for younger children but can be found at different difficulty levels. These types of books make children look closely for patterns and details, and will likely give them a chance to struggle but still succeed. If needed, whoever is reading with the child can assist but should try not to do it for them.

These kinds of books will reinforce the learning your child is experiencing at school. Reading about math related topics with your child will help them understand multi-subject learning in school.
