It may be odd but no matter the content, reading to children can help them strengthen their mind. This strengthening is important for all areas of development and it has many benefits for children ages 3-5. It can help them strengthen their communication skills, give them a fun way to explore the world around them, prepare them for school, and many others.

There are many children’s books specific to developing early number skills. Counting books can be very good for toddlers to learn number identification and the count sequence. You can also find books about adding, subtracting, shapes, and patterns.

Another type of book that can be fun for children are search and find or I Spy books. These books can have different difficulty levels. They make children look for shapes and patterns, and will give them a chance to struggle but succeed. If needed, whoever is reading with the child can assist by providing hints about the location of the image you are looking for, but should try not to find the parts for them.
