When your child mimics your movements and behaviors, it helps them learn to develop their visuospatial and fine motor skills before they need to use them mentally.

Starting at a young age we need to give children time to practice crawling, walking, and sitting up. Motivating children to practice movements will help them develop their visuospatial skills. Do not push children to do any movements before they are ready. We need to let them spend as much time as they need in stages before moving on.

One way to help develop children’s motor skills is to give them tasks and even toys that require them to use their hands. This can be done by giving your child(ren) toys that require them to push buttons or move pieces. They can learn by holding teething rings and other things in their hands. Developing these two skills will help your child be better prepared to think mathematically in the future.
