Separating and matching different clothes by size or by who the clothes belong to, introduces children to the concept of similar and different. Another way to have children help around the house is to have them help you put the groceries away when you come home. If you explain to them what you want where, you can ask the child to help you sort the foods into categories or sections in your kitchen. If you want, you can sort the foods with them to help them begin to understand the concept. It would even be beneficial for your child if you count the foods with them and work on numbers.
